In memory of

Mike Giraud

In honor of Mike Giraud, our friend and long-time colleague at Swisher Commercial, we would like to share some thoughts and a few photos.

Mike was the salt of the earth, always striving for what was good, right and honorable.  While he was a husband, son, father, and grandfather to his family, to his Swisher Commercial associates, he was a dear friend, cherished colleague, much appreciated comic relief as well as being an expert in the field of commercial real estate.  His integrity, wit, kind-heartedness, and generosity rounded out his character.  He was respected and admired by clients, associates, and competitors alike.

Mike was the ultimate Townie, both personally and professionally!  He had deep ties to his community and preferred spending time on the street, face to face, with friends, family, and business relationships whether it be at a summer Sonic Lunch concert, in line at Le Dog for lobster bisque, or calling on clients to share the Swisher Vacancy Report.  As a veteran broker and with over 20 years tenure at Swisher Commercial, Mike enjoyed being the conduit between people and properties – whether he was involved in the deal or not.

Mike’s successful career as a Commercial Real Estate broker spanned over 37 years, having initially joined Swisher Commercial in 1999. Along with his years at Swisher, Mike worked with a regional real estate development company in charge of property management, leasing and acquisitions; and served as an Associate Broker and Vice President for two other national brokerage firms giving them a presence in the Washtenaw County market.  Mike was responsible for the acquisition, disposition and leasing of office, hi-tech, industrial and retail properties as well as land development. He provided consulting services, landlord & tenant representation, and buyer-seller representation for many national, regional and local clients.

Swisher Commercial brokers, staff and our families extend our heartfelt sympathy to Mike’s wife, Heidi; daughter, Sam; and grandson, Abbott.
